How to turn on instant replies on Facebook messenger

Don’t you get frustrated when you message a company and don’t hear back for days on end? We do, too! Chances are, if you’re not replying to your customers within a day or so, they’ll find somewhere else. When you turn on instant replies on your business page’s Facebook messenger, even if you’re away your customers will value the instant touch point (and probably wait to hear back from you).

This video gives you a step-by-step demo on how to turn your instant replies on so you can start building stronger relationships online.

How to turn on instant replies in Facebook messenger

  1. Head to your business Facebook page and click on “Inbox” in the left hand navigation.
  2. Click on “Automated Response” in the left hand navigation.
  3. Here you’ll see a number of options that give you different types of functionality. To start off, turn your “Instant Reply” button to “On”.
  4. Click “Edit Message” and personalize your reply so it’s custom to your audience. We suggest including your hours of operation, your normal schedule for checking Facebook messages, a timeframe for when they can expect a reply, and (most importantly) an alternative way they can contact you if it’s urgent.
  5. Don’t forget to hit “Save”!

Once you’ve turned your instant replies on you can scroll through all the functionality options to customize your messages.

Remember, making a strong connection is the most important thing here. So if you are using Facebook messenger (even if you have set up instant reply) be sure to check your messages regularly.
